Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary School Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic growth. This role involves developing and implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and supporting the diverse needs of students, including those with special educational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards in subjects such as literacy and math.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a conducive learning environment.
- Provide individualized support to students, including those with disabilities or special needs, through tailored instructional strategies.
- Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Collaborate with parents, staff, and specialists to support students' educational needs, including IEP development for students requiring special education services.
- Utilize effective communication skills to foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
- Incorporate techniques from early intervention strategies and behavioral therapy as needed to support student learning.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field is required.
- Arizona Special Education Certificate is required.
- Proven experience working with children in an educational setting, including experience leading a self-contained classroom.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and lesson planning is essential.
- Experience working with students who have developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices is beneficial.
- Skills in behavioral management will enhance the effectiveness of the candidate in this role.
- Knowledge of the special education process and applicable laws and regulations is essential.
