Grounds Journeyman/Lead

  JOB GOAL:
To supervise as well as perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the repair and maintenance of the grounds and athletic fields associated with District buildings.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  3. Satisfactory criminal background check.
  4. Experience with computers, such as email and work order systems.
  5. Position requires the following physical demands:  be able to lift up to 50 lbs, be able to exert 50-60 lbs of force frequently, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  6. Ability to walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop or kneel.
  7. Knowledge of hand and power tools.
  8. Must have five years of experience in landscape and sprinkler systems.
  9. Read and understand blueprints and closeout books.
  10. Must be able to work outside in Arizona weather conditions.


TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  260 Days; 12 Months
COMPENSATION:  $21.77- $25.68
BENEFITS:  As per District policy
REPORTS TO:  Director of Building Operations
HOURS:  40 hours per week - Monday-Friday 5 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
CLASSIFICATION:  Hourly, Non-exempt
 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Supervises all Maintenance Grounds Technicians and Apprentices.
  2. Oversees and monitors the planting, trimming, watering, fertilizing and care of the lawn to all district sites.
  3. Responsible for major repairs on the drip system, sprinkler system, and time clock.
  4. Need to be able to repair all levels of lawn care equipment.
  5. Be able to run lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmer, blowers, tractors with their attachment, and pull trailers.
  6. Need to know the basics of designing a sprinkler system and how it works.
  7. Taking care of the sports field lining: such as, football, baseball, and soccer fields.
  8. Making sure that all district sites always look their best.
  9. Establish and maintain records for materials and parts required to complete work orders and construction projects.
  10. Interface with outside contractors during remodel and new construction projects to insure the District’s requirements are being met.
  11. On Call 24/7.
  12. Maintain a safe work environment for supervised employees.
  13. Being flexible and performing other duties assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.
