Job Title: Controls Engineer

 

Science, Engineering, Management Solutions LLC (Sem-Sol) is a small business in Albuquerque, NM on the forefront of science and industry. Our skilled scientists, engineers and technicians specialize in directed energy and pulsed power systems and use innovative technology to develop innovative solutions for a range of Department of Defense agencies and commercial industries.

 

Sem-Sol is growing fast, and we need a full-time Controls Engineer to help us keep pace with demand. Our ideal candidate is not the keep-inside-my-own-cubicle type. We need someone who can work well as a team because every day your job will involve collaborating with others who are invested in achieving the same goal. Our ideal candidate must also possess a combination of technical and communication skills as developing documentation goes hand in hand with control systems.

 

In addition to the exciting challenges inherent in control system development, Sem-Sol also offers a place to expand professionally.

 

Duties will include:

 

  • Developing code and graphical user interfaces to interact with hardware such as single board computers, embedded controllers and commercial equipment.
  • Direct interfacing with the hardware along with code development for low speed and high-speed applications.
  • Implementing a software repository and assisting with formal software configuration control.
  • Preparing presentation materials and presenting work at design reviews.
  • Collaborating daily with scientists, engineers, technicians, and program managers.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. in software engineering or Electrical engineering or related field from an accredited college
  • Working knowledge of software used in programming embedded microcontrollers, programmable logic controllers, and embedded computers
  • Working knowledge of C, C++ C# for developing user interfaces
  • Familiarity with developing software development plans
  • Use of laboratory diagnostics to measure and troubleshoot controllers and control systems

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working on directed energy and/or pulsed power projects

  • Meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Possess Active Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
