Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Science, Engineering, Management Solutions LLC (Sem-Sol) is a small business in Albuquerque, NM on the forefront of science and industry. Our skilled scientists, engineers and technicians specialize in directed energy and pulsed power systems and use advanced technology to develop innovative solutions for a range of Department of Defense agencies and commercial industries.

 

Sem-Sol is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who has the vision to move a project from concept to delivery while staying on time and within budget. We need a high-performing professional with:

  • Excellent prioritization and project development skills – our technical team is integral to keeping the program on-target.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience. 

 

Duties will include:

  • Support hardware realization efforts through design, analysis, procurement, assembly/integration, testing, and delivery of products to end customers.
  • Interface with COTs suppliers and prototype fabrication machine shops.
  • Assist with material review boards for non-conforming parts.
  • Perform detailed analyses (structural, thermal, fluid, modal/shock/vibration) and provide supporting documentation to assist in design decisions to meet system requirements. 
  • Research relevant technology and applications to justify design decisions
  • Support the development and documentation of mechanical requirements to establish a system design. 
  • Support technical program design reviews for internal and external customers.
  • Create and/or review technical drawings to ensure designs meet form, fit, and function requirements
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop an accurate accounting of all engineering hours required for various types of projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited college.
  • 5+ years’ experience in an engineering role.
  • Proficient in at least one 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, etc.)
  • Skilled in managing multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic work environment. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks with changing priorities and interruptions. 
  • Experience with configuration management/product data management (PDM) tools.
  • Familiarity with fabrication methods associated with prototype realization (machine tools, welding, surface treatments, etc).

 

Desired Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • 8+ years’ experience in an engineering role
  • ANSYS Mechanical analysis software.
  • Drafting practices per ASME Y14.100. Applied experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with design of vacuum systems, pulsed power, or directed energy
  • MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college.
